Other names: Chestnut-breasted Munia, Chestnut Finch, Barley Bird.

Distribution: East coast of Australia to south of Sydney in New South Wales and from Derby in Western Australia across to the Gulf of Carpentaria.

Habitat: Tall grasses and reeds around marshes, creeks and rivers; agricultural areas and sugar cane fields.
