Other names: Red headed finch, Temporal finch, Sydney Waxbill.

Original Distribution: Down the eastern seaboard of Australia from the tip of Cape York, around into the South Australian Mount Lofty Ranges, and across onto Kangaroo Island.

Habitat: Shady forested areas along creeks and watercourses.  They have adapted to human habitation and are often seen in suburban areas.
